Water damage can be pretty common here in the Cranberry County.
It caused by many factors, such as: torrential rains, floods, burst pipes caused by below freezing temperatures, and leaks in the roof caused by storm damage. Not mention, if not treated properly and quickly mold and musty odors can begin to creep in your home. Of course, there is always the damage caused to electrical outlets ceilings, walls and floors and personal belongings and furnishings. Whether in an attic, living area, basement or crawl space, all of these situations are unfortunate and can occur at any time. Precautions & Safety tips
- Avoid contact with electrical outlets and electrical panels if exposed to water to avoid risk of shock
- Never use electricity or extension cords in or around water
- Eliminate standing water by using a wet vac to minimize standing water around furnace, hot water tank and oil tank
- Consider waterproofing and sump pump if needed
- Lastly get the basement dried out as soon as possible, use fans, dehumidifiers, air purifiers
- Elevate items off the floor
- Remove all wet contents and debris to avoid mold
