3 Steps to Winterize Your Home - Marion 02738

The winter season is quickly approaching which means that now is the time to properly prepare your home for the freezing temps that are sure to come.
When it comes to winterizing your home, make sure to take these key steps to ensure you don’t have water damage on hands… or in this case, your home!
1. Clean your Gutters
Making sure your gutters are clear can go a long way to prevent leaks and backups. If the gutters are clogged with leaves, or in some cases, rodents, the water it collects will go into your house instead of flowing outside.
2. Insulate areas in your home that are prone to freeze
This task may be a bit harder to accomplish. But we promise you, when the bitter cold temperatures come and everyone else’s pipes freeze except yours, you’ll be glad you went through the mild inconvenience of re-insulating your home.
3. Detach Your Hoses
On the easier side, this task is very straightforward, but don’t trick yourself into thinking it’s simple. When putting your gardening tools away for the winter, don’t overlook detaching your houses. While you’re at it, make sure to drain them and insulate the faucets so they don’t freeze from the outside temps.
In this area of Massachusetts, winter quickly comes, and overstays its welcome.
