How We Mitigate Water Damage - Marion 02738

11/5/2019 (Permalink)

Ever wonder how we make your home or office's water damage disaster, "Like it never even happened."? Here are the steps we take to ensure your environment is dry:

  • Before anything is done, make sure to shut off any power around the area, including electricity and gas.
  • While standing around the flooded area, for your protection wear boots and gloves. Depending on the amount of water, you can use a sump pump, a pool pump, a wet/dry vacuum or a mop and bucket.
  • When most of the water has been extracted, soak up the lingering water with a cloth or sponges.
  • Move out damaged items to a dry area for at least 48 hours.
  • If there is wet carpeting it can prevent the underlying floor from drying if it’s not removed quickly. Although it can be difficult to sufficiently dry out these materials, sometimes wet carpeting can be saved. If the carpet isn’t dried properly, it can become moldy.
  • Give the basement several days of drying time and opening windows and doors will help get as much ventilation in the area. It’s crucial to place fans around the room for air circulation and a dehumidifier for the moisture in the air.
