Here's What You Need in Your Disaster Kit - Lakeville, MA

September is disaster preparedness month and we have a saying we live by at SERVPRO of Marion / Middleborough that goes: Don’t panic but be prepared.
We know that some things are unpreventable, but that doesn’t mean we can’t prepare for the unexpected. Being "Ready for whatever happens" includes preparing for the worst but also hoping for the best. Which is why disaster preparedness and response is where we come in.
As a result of our storm damage experience, we want to equip our communities with key tools so they can also be "Ready for whatever happens" just like we are.
One way you can also be ready is by having a disaster emergency kit packed for you and members of your household.
Here are a few things we recommend to include:
- Water
- Food
- Battery-powered radio
- Flashlight
- First aid kit
- Extra batteries
- Whistle
- Dust mask
- Plastic sheeting and duct tape
- Moist towelettes, garbage bags, and plastic ties
- Wrench or pliers
- Manual can opener
- Local maps
- Cell phone with solar chargers and a backup battery
For additional items to include, visit ready.Gov for great tips to help build a kit.
By preparing for a disaster you position yourself and your loved ones to be a step ahead by thinking clearly and removing the weight of panic off your shoulders. For all your storm damage restoration needs, contact SERVPRO of Marion / Middleborough.
